     >>> Driving Whilst Using Your Mobile Phone

     >>> Speeding On Rural Roads

     >>> Drive To Stop Blue Badge Misuse
One in five thefts from unattended vehicles involves a blue badge. A major crackdown on the fraudulent use of disabled parking badges in a Sussex city has started.

     >>> How Safe Is Your Car?

The THINK! Road Safety Website from the UK Department for Transport began a campaign late last year against speeding on rural roads. The very sensible key messages are:

  1. Don't assume it's safe to break the speed limit on rural roads just because there is less traffic.

  2. With a clear road ahead you may be tempted to put your foot down. THINK! before you accelerate on rural roads.

  3. Drive at a speed according to the characteristics of the road and be aware that there are unforeseen and dangerous hazards such as blind bends and animals on the road.

  4. At slower speeds, you would be able to react more quickly.

  5. The national 60mph speed limit should not be seen as a target speed.

  6. Take special care when driving at night on rural roads as other drivers' headlights could temporarily blind you.

Naturally, BetterDrivingPlease fully supports this campaign. After all, YOU ARE THREE TIMES MORE LIKELY TO DIE IN A CAR CRASH ON A RURAL ROAD!
